So after 15 years off I finally got in a game of Warhammer 40K! I took a plane over to Warhammer World for a weekend of gaming. The first opponent of the weekend was multiple Golden Demon winner and I am pretty sure a Slayer Sword winner Kirsten, who you may remember from her Hrud here and there. I was bringing my Thousand Sons with Cypher/Deadpool and Tzeentch Demons. Basically everything I had painted up to 2000 points, Kirsten brought Dino-riders…

Stunning and wonderful conversion work on the Sisters of Battle. The front two beasties are Castellans robots and the back row from left to right are an Exorcist, an Imperial Knight and a selection of attack bikes. As I didn’t know the original models rules for most of them it didn’t bother me.

The Saint Celestine herself had come to lead the enemy, along with some more dino-riders. In this case they were Space Marine bikers. From White Scars with the attack bikes. Pretty sure the dino in the middle is actually a Hydra flak tank. Pretty sure.

Our rough deployment, you can see Cypherpool deployed forward… ok I really didn’t use him well and he died every time I fielded him.

This would not be the first time I made the mistake of pushing forward to fast and wanting to rapid fire Inferno bolts into things. AP3 is a wonderful thing, until things start jinking.
Warhammer 40K Battle report: My Thousand Sons were a bit ambitious. |
See? I did it again, drive the Rhino forward and muhahaha my bolters will shred them… oh more jinking. I can sense a theme.
Warhammer 40K Battle report: My Thousand Sons were a bit ambitious. Again. |
Warhammer 40K Battle report: This didn’t go well for me. |
A melta squad arrives from out flank, the bike/dinos advance and the star dragon knight turns its gatling cannons om my Rubric marines. Queue up a lot of 4+ invulnerable saves.
Warhammer 40K Battle report: This didn’t go well for me either. |
Much to Kirsten’s (and my own) amazement two actually survived. Not exactly combat effective but alive.
Warhammer 40K Battle report: After all that two survived! |
The gunline on the other side did similar damage to the other squad. On the right you can see Cypher/Deadpool fighting the attack bikes. He would kill off the second of the three and hit and run away from combat to shot them up and charge in again…. he died to overwatch. Doh!
Warhammer 40K Battle report: The Saint charged the survivors and for a force activated axe to the face! |
Warhammer 40K Battle report: The Doom Budgie/Heldrake did great work on one Sisters squad and then got its bale flamer blown off sadly. |
Warhammer 40K Battle report: The survivors of the shooting from the Knight, bikes and melta squad jump in their Rhino and back up a touch… |
The Flamers tried to provide a distraction. It didn’t work too well…
Warhammer 40K Battle report: Silly move by the flamers in an attempt to block the enemy off. |
Warhammer 40K Battle report: One actually survived! Mainly as they mostly shot around it. |
By this stage I had the undamaged Forgefiend, a single Flamer, a damaged Rhino and an Havoc with an auto-cannon. Oh and my Hellbrute Mayhem Pack that still had not come in yet, stupid reserves. Everyone else had finished there games so we called it there. Turned out had I completed my turn it would have been a draw, whoops but I was hungry đŸ˜›
Warhammer 40K Battle report: My Forgefiend was left still waiting for the Mayhem Pack to show up to help. |
Well there we go, I finally fought a battle and in did a battle report. Thor will be rather shocked.
