+++ Time to get some heavy metal moving! +++
Those of you who have followed the blog for a while will remember my previous attempts at kit bashing a Chaos Knight. They didn’t progress so well. While that project has faltered it is not entirely finished, but in the mean time a new Knight has entered the fray as a present. I’ve actually had this beast for a while but have found the whole idea of it rather daunting on how to start with that many resin pieces floating in a wash bowl.
Cerastus Knight-Castigator: Strides to war! |
Eventually though I took the plunge and jumped in, in the end I got the main of it put together in one weekend and then it stayed in a the box for another couple of weekends. Until yesterday that is. All the grey pieces you see on it are not actually attached. Currently that is just tacked on to let me see how it looks. I sprayed the whole model black, with car primer and then the armour plates grey with Army Painter.
Cerastus Knight-Castigator: I love the extra armour shoulders. |
Mostly this model is just a work of love as I don’t have an army to field it with. Sadly my 40K army, bring somewhat Chaosy, isn’t allowed take Castigators yet.* So I suppose it could join the Imperial Fists I am very slowly doing up for 30K but I never really intended for that to be a full army, I suppose time will tell on it. I wonder if any of the folks I play against would allow me use it with my Chaos army as a Come The Apocalypse ally.
Cerastus Knight-Castigator: The gun that made me want this on looks alone. |
As you can see there are still places to be painted grey on it to match the army plates, such as around the fearsome Bolt Cannon and the knee pads.
+++ Strike a pose +++
I am quite happy with the pose. Originally I wanted it to be standing on something as it strode forward but sadly that didn’t come together and I wanted to start the project so here we are. The head can still swivel, which lends a different look to the model depending on which way it looks. The eagle eyed among you may notice the modified elbow plates on the sword arm. Yeah I managed to lose the elbow joint at some point and had to improvise. It doesn’t stand out unless you know it is there.
